Early diagnosis of cancer (Electronic educational course, 36 hours)

Relevance: One of the priority areas of Russian healthcare is the prevention and early detection of cancer, especially in working-age citizens. In modern conditions of health care, it is necessary that a doctor of any specialization in a medical institution can already exclude the symptoms of a malignant formation in a patient at the first clinical examination. Currently, the persistent problem of the growth of malignant oncopathology is observed all over the world. Mortality from cancer in developed countries is in second place after mortality from cardiovascular diseases. Cancer is predicted to become the leading cause of death in the world within a few decades. In Russia, according to statistics, the prevalence of malignant diseases has increased by almost 40% over the past ten years, and the growth is increasing annually. Currently, more than 600 thousand cases of cancer are detected in our country per year.

The purpose of this educational course is to expand the professional knowledge of students about modern data on the early diagnosis and treatment of cancer and its complications. The modern approach to the early diagnosis of any cancer requires the creation of a professional team of specialists with comprehensive knowledge of related medical specialties to provide medical care to cancer patients at the highest level.

As part of the course, we:

  1. We will discuss the principles of early diagnosis of oncological diseases of various localization.
  2. We will discuss the difficulties in organizing the early diagnosis of malignant neoplasms and ways to overcome them.
  3. We will analyze the tactics of examination of cancer patients, which will help to increase the level of detection of oncopathology in the early stages of the disease.
  4. We will tell you about modern methods of early detection of lung cancer, stomach cancer, colorectal cancer, prostate cancer, cancer of the female reproductive system.
  5. We will tell you about the current data on screening programs in oncology in Russia and around the world.
  6. We will discuss diagnostic algorithms for hereditary forms of cancer and introduce students to the basic principles of genetic diagnosis.
