Relevance.

Often, patients suffering from some forms of mental disorders (depressive, anxiety, somatoform disorders, eating disorders) turn to somatic specialists, which is due to the peculiarities of their complaints and condition. Depressive and anxiety disorders, occupy the first positions in the prevalence of mental disorders and may include somatic complaints, which encourage the patient to initially contact non-psychiatric specialists. One of the most severe symptoms of depressive disorder, including in cases where the patient did not receive timely assistance to the required extent or was not informed about the treatment, is a suicidal risk.

An important aspect is the provision of assistance to patients receiving treatment with antipsychotic drugs, which is often associated with undesirable effects and deterioration of the somatic state.

Taking into account the prevalence and variety of symptoms and manifestations of mental disorders, the appeal to specialists of the somatic profile, the severe consequences in cases of late provision of specialized care, the lack of understanding of the symptoms and types of mental disorders on the part of non-psychiatric specialists, the issue of informing about the main mental disorders is relevant.

The help of specialists in the field of mental health is presented in the course in the form of a part devoted to mental disorders, their features and identification. As well as a part dedicated to the issues of psychotherapeutic assistance in order to inform the audience about the main approaches and features of this direction.
