Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin called the terms of construction of the new building of the MCSC

The area of the eight-storey building will be 70 thousand square meters. It will provide high-tech care and treat the most complex malignant tumors.

The construction of the medical and diagnostic complex of the Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center named after A. S. Loginov will be completed next year. It is being built on the site of two old buildings.

"No matter what we do with these old buildings, they would still remain old: no new logistics, no technology-nothing can be done there. We decided to design a new clinic, the most modern, the best one you can imagine. We designed it and started building it last year, demolishing two old buildings. Here today, in fact, a new building has appeared, walls have been erected, primary finishing has begun, engineering communications are being installed. And in any case, we will have to build this hospital for at least a year and a half, but it will be a new generation clinic, " he said.Sergey Sobyanin during the inspection of the building under construction.

According to the Mayor of Moscow, the Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center named after A. S. Loginov has formed a first-class team that provides cancer care at the highest level. As the director of the institution Igor Khatkov noted, the construction works are carried out taking into account the wishes of the medical staff.

The Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center named after A. S. Loginov was established in 2013 on the basis of the Central Research Institute of Gastroenterology and Hospital No. 60. Today it is a large multidisciplinary medical institution, one of the six main cancer hospitals and a leading center for abdominal robotic surgery. The center performs high-tech operations on the abdominal organs.

At the same time, the center is located in outdated medical buildings built in the 1950s and 1970s, the area of which is insufficient to provide medical care according to modern standards. That is why it was decided to build a new medical and diagnostic complex.

Construction of the eight-storey building with an underground level began exactly a year ago — in March 2020. The medical complex is designed for 570 beds, including 422 beds of a round-the-clock hospital, 38 beds of intensive care and intensive care, 20 beds of a short-term hospital, 60 beds of a day therapeutic hospital and 30 beds of a day chemotherapeutic hospital. The new building will be connected to the existing buildings by covered walkways.

State-of-the-art equipment and high-tech operations

In the center, patients with cancer will be able to receive all types of medical care — from diagnostics to high-tech treatment and rehabilitation. Thus, specialists will treat the most complex malignant tumors and perform all types of operations for cancers of the head and neck, thyroid, upper respiratory tract, lungs, esophagus, stomach, urinary, reproductive and endocrine systems, pancreas, liver, skin, breast and other organs.

To equip the medical and diagnostic complex, three magnetic resonance and five computed tomographs, three X-ray complexes (for two and three workplaces), a device for positron emission tomography combined with computed tomography (PET/CT), and two devices for single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT/CT) will be purchased. They will also supply three angiographic units, two X-ray units of the "C-arc" type, 37 ultrasound machines, endoscopic and laboratory equipment.

Operating rooms are equipped with devices for anesthesia, anesthesia monitors and transport devices with artificial ventilation of the lungs. They will also be equipped with a unique microclimate monitoring system, which will allow monitoring the bacteriological purity of the air, and a telemedicine system to conduct consultations and training broadcasts of operations. In addition, the unique technological equipment of the complex will allow for radiation therapy, which was not previously done here.

Convenient for patients and staff

The new building will house an outpatient cancer care center, organized according to the new Moscow standard. In accordance with it, the complex will be equipped with a laboratory with a capacity of more than 10 thousand studies per day. It will include a state-of-the-art pathologic laboratory and a department of oncogenetics to identify patients with hereditary forms of cancer.

Muscovites will be able to undergo SPECT at the clinic/CT, PET/CT and other modern types of research. In the operating rooms of the department of short-term stay, low-traumatic operations of general, urological, gynecological and otorhinolaryngological profile will be performed.

The clinic will create the most comfortable conditions for patients, their relatives and medical staff. So, in the wards of the hospital, beds with electric drive will be installed, call buttons for medical staff will be installed, an air conditioning and ventilation system will be installed, a shower and a bathroom will be equipped. You can talk to doctors and psychologists in special rooms, and relax in cozy waiting areas. It is also possible to stay together with relatives who will take care of the patients.

The clinic's doctors will use the modern Fast Track recovery system. It allows patients to return to normal life in the shortest possible time (two to three days for standard surgical procedures). The system includes the use of gentle methods of anesthesia, minimally invasive methods of surgical treatment, optimal control of pain, stress reactions and active postoperative recovery.

Construction process

At the moment, the construction site of the new complex has completed work on the removal of engineering communications. The specialists also performed monolithic zero-cycle work (with the exception of the installation opening) - they made waterproofing of the foundation and filled it back in. Monolithic work on the aboveground part, interior decoration (screed and partition construction, wall and ceiling putty) are still underway, builders are laying internal engineering systems and external networks.

After the construction is completed, the territory adjacent to the complex will be landscaped. There will be convenient driveways for hospital logistics and sidewalks for pedestrians, trees and shrubs will be planted. They will also install benches and bins, and equip a sports ground for staff.

It is planned that the new medical and diagnostic complex will receive the first patients in 2023.

"Moscow is becoming the capital of health, the most modern, most high-tech care is now available to ordinary Muscovites (after all, this clinic will work under the CHI). If there is a disaster, every person who has an MHI policy can get the best, most effective help and maintain their health, " said Tatyana Butskaya, chairman of the Board of the All-Russian Public Organization "Council of Mothers".

Leading cancer hospital in Moscow

The main medical buildings of the Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center named after A. S. Loginov are located on the highway of Enthusiasts. In addition, the center includes:

- specialized mammological center-women's health clinic (branches at 23 Goncharnaya Street and 8 Verkhny Predtechensky Pereulok);

- outpatient cancer care center (5 Perervinsky Boulevard);

- a separate structural unit (hospital) (22 Akademika Pavlova Street).

The total capacity of the multidisciplinary clinic is 876 beds, including 34 intensive care beds and 122 day hospital beds. The consulting and diagnostic department is designed for about two thousand visits per day.

On average, about 30 thousand patients are diagnosed and treated in the center every year. More than 400 thousand patients receive outpatient care.

The clinic employs more than 2,4 thousand people, including 541 doctors (including seven Honored Doctors of Russia, two corresponding members of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 65 doctors and 120 candidates of medical Sciences, 15 professors), 812 employees of secondary and 65 employees of junior medical staff, 200 researchers and 785 employees of other personnel.

Doctors of the Moscow Clinical Scientific and Practical Center named after A. S. Loginov provide medical care in 19 areas, but oncology is a priority.

In addition to medical work, the center is actively engaged in educational activities. It implements postgraduate education programs in 12 medical specialties. In 2020, about 4.7 thousand specialists were trained at the clinical center.

The center's employees take part in international congresses, as well as are the initiators and curators of interactive professional educational online communities.

"Unfortunately, more and more people need cancer care. This is due, of course, primarily to the fact that the average age is increasing, life expectancy is increasing, " said the Mayor of Moscow.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, the Moscow Clinical Research and Practice Center named after A. S. Loginov continued to provide planned and emergency medical care to patients, mainly cancer patients. For the safety of patients and staff, the clinic has created sanitary checkpoints, organized clean, observation and diagnostic zones that prevent the spread of coronavirus infection, installed automated boxes at the entrances to the clinic to measure the temperature and process the clothes of visitors.

From October 12, 2020 to February 9, 2021, a hospital for the care of patients with COVID-19 was deployed in the branch on Akademika Pavlova Street (house 22). 1,856 people were treated here. Since March 1, 2021, the hospital has resumed providing planned care.

In addition, the specialists of the center (pulmonologists, rheumatologists, hematologists) they participated in providing assistance to patients with COVID-19 in various hospitals in Moscow.

New hospitals and clinics

Since 2011, about 100 city, federal and private healthcare facilities have been built in Moscow. Among them are 34 buildings of hospitals, 48 polyclinics, seven substations of emergency medical care.

In the Targeted Investment Program for 2021-2023, it is planned to build almost 70 healthcare facilities, including 20 hospital buildings, 36 polyclinics, and four ambulance substations.
