In June, Moscow radiologists will start using artificial intelligence algorithms to detect osteoporosis and signs of coronary heart disease on computed tomography. And during the year, new technologies will be used in research in 13 areas.
"The appearance of artificial intelligence-based services in the capital's medical organizations in new directions is the result of the systematic development of a single digital healthcare platform. Now the technologies in the Moscow experiment help to analyze four types of research. By the end of 2021, we plan to offer doctors new tools that will make their work easier. So, doctors will have access to algorithms for processing nine more new areas of research, " she said.Anastasia Rakova, Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Social Development.
According to her, artificial intelligence will be used to analyze CT/NDCT of the chest organs to detect lung emphysema, thoracic aortic aneurysm and pulmonary hypertension, CT and MRI of the brain to diagnose strokes, malignancies, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, MRI of the lumbosacral spine to detect hernias, protrusions, stenosis, radiography of the musculoskeletal system to diagnose arthrosis, flat feet fractures of the limbs and vertebrae, as well as chest scans on CT/NDCT for the diagnosis of osteoporosis and signs of coronary heart disease. Services for the analysis of the last two directions will appear in the capital's clinics in June. "It is important that we openly attract innovations: we do not develop computer vision systems ourselves, but invite developers, integrate these solutions with a single digital platform, check the accuracy of services, and only the best of them we implement in the daily practice of the entire network," said Anastasia Rakova.
The mechanism of artificial intelligence remains the same: the algorithms process the image before the doctor examines it, and the areas that require increased attention are highlighted in color so that the specialist does not miss them.
Moscow started using innovative methods for analyzing medical images in 2020. The city began to attract innovative companies to the project, which create and implement high technologies in the social sphere. Artificial intelligence services were integrated into a single radiological information service (ERIS). They can be used by radiologists of all medical institutions connected to the ERIS.
The implementation of such solutions was made possible thanks to the unified digital healthcare platform, which was developed and developed by the Moscow Social Development Complex and the Information Technology Department.
