Difficult airways

Relevance:
About 50% of difficult airways are detected suddenly. The consequences of this are difficult or impossible mask ventilation, difficult intubation, and as a result, severe hypoxia. Such problems can be caused by the urgency of the situation, ignoring the preliminary assessment of the respiratory tract, insufficient experience of the anesthesiologist, insufficient technical support, etc. Despite the increased level of hardware in modern clinics, the problem of difficult airways remains the most relevant for anesthesiologists and resuscitators, who are required to follow the algorithms developed for these situations perfectly.

As part of the course, we will:

  1. We will repeat the anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology of the upper and lower respiratory tract, analyze the methods of assessing the respiratory tract;
  2. We will study ways to assess the patency of the respiratory tract;
  3. Let's get acquainted with the equipment necessary for difficult airways;
  4. We will study the technical aspects of ensuring the patency of the respiratory tract;
  5. We will study in detail the methods and techniques of tracheal intubation in various ways, including vidiolaryngoscopy and intubation with a fibrobronchoscope;
  6. Let's analyze the algorithm of actions in the event of difficult airways.
