Ultrasound diagnostics in the Department of Coloproctology of the MCSC
NewsIt is known that the ultrasound method of research (ultrasound) has long been widely used in various fields of medicine. The range of its application is so large that it is difficult to imagine the diagnosis of any disease without it.
Ultrasound can also serve as a navigation function when performing diagnostic or surgical manipulations. This can be a puncture of the tumor for the purpose of taking a biopsy, or the installation of catheters and drains. Also, ultrasound is often performed in order to perform monitoring after surgery.
In the course of performing ultrasound, depending on the anatomical area under study, specialists use various ultrasound sensors:
- linear
- convexals
- endoscopic, etc.
In the diagnosis of diseases of the colon, rectum and anal canal, the use of ultrasound is no less relevant and valuable. In this case, the doctor conducts a study using a rectal sensor.

Transrectal ultrasound (TRUZI) is of great importance in the diagnosis of such diseases:
- rectal abscesses and fistulas
- benign and malignant neoplasms of the rectum and anal canal
- functional disorders of the pelvis in women (rectocele, intussusception, prolapse, etc.)
The Coloproctology department of our Center is equipped with modern equipment. Here you can undergo a comprehensive examination and treatment.
