Diagnosis of MCSC: breast sonoelastography
NewsToday, it is proven that early diagnosis of breast cancer (BC) significantly increases the chances of a successful recovery. In the women's health clinic of the MCSC, specialists conduct a comprehensive examination of the mammary glands. It necessarily includes an ultrasound examination (ultrasound).
One of the latest methods of ultrasound diagnostics of breast cancer is sonoelastography. This technology assesses the degree of stiffness of fabrics and their color mapping in real time. The study complements the standard ultrasound, clarifying the data obtained.
The diagnostic doctor examines the questionable area of the breast and examines in detail the areas that cause him suspicion. The density measurement is reflected on the screen in two projections:
- in normal B-mode (black and white image) on one side;
- color mapping on the other side.

Dyeing of fabrics of different densities is carried out in a spectrum of shades from red to blue. For example, harder structures are mapped in blue, while softer and more elastic fabrics are mapped in red.
Elastography allows you to:
- identify small formations that are invisible in standard B-mode;
- distinguish a benign formation from a malignant one.
The study method has no contraindications and can be prescribed repeatedly before diagnosis.
Elastography is recommended:
- in the presence of any nodal formation to assess its density;
- in case of suspected breast cancer;
- with difficulties in the diagnosis of fluid formation from tissue;
- in any cases that raise doubts with the doctor.
Inclusion of the sonoelastography technique in the examination complex (mammography+ultrasound):
- improves diagnostic accuracy;
- makes it possible to avoid an unjustified biopsy;
- if necessary, invasive manipulation allows you to select areas of pathological stiffness as targets for targeted biopsy sampling.
