A visit to the solarium is a great opportunity to get a beautiful tan, regardless of the time of year and weather conditions.

But experts advise not to abuse its frequent visits, because it can lead to serious health problems.

Head of the Department of Skin and Soft Tissue Tumors of the MCSC, ProfessorKonstantin Sergeyevich Titov in an interview with Sputnik radio spoke about who and what is dangerous for a solarium.

The doctor told who can not go to the solarium

Tanning beds help you quickly get a beautiful tan, but they can also lead to serious health problems, especially in certain types of people. In an interview with Sputnik radio, oncologist Konstantin Titov told about who and what is dangerous for a solarium.

For most people, the main sign of a well – spent vacation is a beautiful bronze tan. But what if there is no vacation planned, and you do not want to go pale "like a toadstool"? In this case, many resort to the help of tanning salons. And in vain. In addition to the "bronze" body, tanning enthusiasts risk getting serious health problems, Konstantin Titov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor, Head of the Department of Surgery and Oncology of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, Head of the Department of Skin and Soft Tissue Tumors of the Moscow Clinical Scientific Center named after A. S. Loginov, warned in an interview with Sputnik radio.

"People with very light skin of a milky shade with freckles or with multiple moles – red-haired and true blondes-tan is generally contraindicated. Their tan is not able to form due to the phototype of the skin, instead a sunburn is formed. The burn causes a phase of acute inflammation, then there are mutations in the skin cells (their genetic rearrangements), which can lead over time, after 20-40 years, to the development of a malignant tumor – melanoma or skin cancer. Melanoma among skin cancers is the most aggressive and dangerous and is responsible for 80% of deaths in this group of neoplasms, " the doctor explained.

According to Titov, tanning is not very useful, in Germany and some US states, for example, people under 18 are generally forbidden to visit a tanning salon.

"In any case, in order for the tan to form, the skin goes through a thermal burn phase. Redness of the skin is a first-degree burn, and blistering is a second-degree burn. After that, the immune cells die in the skin, its elasticity decreases, premature aging occurs, that is, wrinkles, age spots appear and dry skin occurs. If a person has received a large sunburn, then for some time the immune system will be reduced, he will be more likely to suffer from colds," Konstantin Titov said.

The professor is sure that warning signs should be placed at the entrance to the solarium, similar to those found on cigarette packs.

"Cigarettes cause lung cancer and a number of other cancers, and you are warned. Accordingly, at the entrance to the solarium, you also need to write: light-skinned people with excessive sunburn can develop skin cancer after a while. Some Russian spas do not comply with GOST and do not change the lamps in time. And if they are not changed within the prescribed period, the ultraviolet radiation will be more intense. Then, in a short time, you can get a large dose of ultraviolet light, " Konstantin Titov warned.
