Multiparametric ultrasound in mammology

News

Ultrasound of the breast is a necessary study in the diagnosis of various pathologies of the breast. Today, specialists of the MCSC Women's Health Clinic use multiparametric ultrasound at the stage of clarifying diagnosis.

It includes the use of several ultrasound technologies, and, as a rule, a combination of at least 3 techniques is used:B-mode (gray scale image mode), Doppler modes (color and energy Doppler mapping), sonoelastography, as well as ultrasound with contrast enhancement.

B-mode (seroscale image) makes it possible to distinguish pathological changes (nodular formations) in sizes ranging from 1-2 mm. At this stage, the doctor determines the type of changes detected: benign is more likely or malignant is more likely.

Then Doppler technologies are used, first of all, color Doppler mapping. With its help, it is possible to evaluate the features of blood supply and vascular architecture in education.

Sonoelastography helps specialists in carrying out additional diagnostics of identified focal changes. Hard and soft tissue areas will be colored in different colors on the screen when this option is enabled.

  •  Most malignant neoplasms are visually tougher than benign ones.
  • And additional information about the properties of the identified doubtful site may be very important.

Ultrasound with contrast enhancement is a method in which an echocontrast substance is injected intravenously into the patient, thanks to which the image of the vessel is improved during ultrasound scanning and then the blood supply to the site is evaluated.

The modern system of breast diagnostics, combining X-ray mammography and multiparametric ultrasound diagnostics, allows timely detection of pathological changes, including significantly increasing the detection of stage I breast cancer.

Take regular checkups and be healthy!
