Cyst of the accessory lobe of the mammary gland

- She was worried about a large seal in her right armpit, which has recently become noticeably larger.According to her, she has had this education for many years.
- During the examination, the doctor noted that the patient has an anatomical feature of breast development – an additional lobe in the right armpit.
By touch, a mobile formation of about 10 cm in size was determined. The patient underwent an overview mammography in standard projections, on which no nodular formations were found.
Then, mammography in an additional projection revealed a high-density volumetric formation up to 10 cm in size, which was only partially visible.
To clarify the diagnosis, the doctor performed an ultrasound scan, which revealed a formation with clear contours measuring 8.5x4.0x6.0 cm - a cyst in the additional lobe of the mammary gland. Such a case is rare.Since the formation is large enough, it was also necessary to perform a puncture fine-needle aspiration biopsy, with the help of which it was possible to evacuate 180 ml (!) of the cyst contents.
- Cytological examination showed that no atypical (cancerous) cells were found in the fluid.Also, the patient underwent pneumocystography (examination of the cyst capsule), according to which no intracystic growths were detected.
The history of our patient shows the importance of timely access to a doctor, especially in the presence of a seal in the mammary gland.
- In this case, we are talking about benign pathology, but only with a comprehensive examination, doctors can make an accurate diagnosis.
