Moscow is developing an organ transplantation system

News

In 5 years, the number of transplants in the capital has increased more than 2 times: from 428 in 2020 to 859 last year. Today, liver transplantation is expected for about 5 months, kidneys — up to a year, whereas in other countries the wait takes 3-5 years.

"This result was made possible thanks to digitalization and the development of leading transplant centers," said Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin.

In the surgical department of transplantation of organs and (or) human tissues, using minimally invasive X-ray endovascular technologies, doctors stabilize inoperable tumors and carry out subsequent organ transplantation.

In November 2025, an outpatient center after liver transplantation began operating on the basis of the MCSC, which became part of the unified urban post-transplant service.
