Hereditary breast cancer: Why is it important to undergo genetic testing?
Today we present a new edition of the program "Statistics and Us" from ONCO TV, dedicated to the fight against hereditary breast cancer (breast cancer). Tatiana, who has been in remission for five years, became the heroine of the broadcast. She shares her experience of fighting the disease and tells important moments of her story:
- How did you struggle with hormone-dependent breast cancer in the presence of hereditary mutations?
- How were these mutations determined?
- What are the features of treatment in this case?
The hereditary factor in breast cancer plays an important role in the development of the disease. It is known that 3-10% of breast cancers and 10-17% of ovarian cancers develop due to mutations in the BRCA-1 and BRCA-2 genes. Women with a family history of the disease are recommended to consult an oncologist and conduct genetic testing.
- This will make it possible to identify the increased risk in a timely manner and take preventive measures, such as regular diagnosis and early treatment.
The MCSC named after A.S. Loginov is undergoing a scientific study aimed at identifying hereditary risk factors for various types of cancer. If there have been cases of oncology in your family, it is especially important for you to undergo an examination and consultation with specialists.
