Cancer of extrahepatic biliary tract. Patient's review of treatment at MCSC

Today we are telling the story of our patient Maria.

In October 2024, simultaneously with the yellowing of the skin, she noticed that there was an unusual reaction of the body to some products. At first, she turned to doctors for VMI, who found the cause of the changes, but being afraid of the risks, recommended consulting specialists at the MCSC named after A.S. Loginov.

Maria immediately turned to our Center, where the department of hepatopancretobiliary surgery MCSC, during a comprehensive follow-up examination, doctors diagnosed her with a tumor of the extrahepatic bile ducts.

Unfortunately, the case turned out to be difficult due to the widespread spread of the malignant process to the large blood vessels of the liver. For this reason, it was impossible to carry out the operation promptly.

At the multidisciplinary oncological consultation, the doctors first prescribed Maria antitumor drug treatment after a preliminary biopsy of the formation. Thanks to the right therapy, it was possible to achieve a rapid reduction in tumor size and the release of significant vascular structures.

After that, at the next consultation, the specialists decided that surgical treatment was now possible, and in September 2025, the surgeons of the hepatopancretobiliary surgery department performed the removal of the left lobe of the liver with the bile ducts affected by the tumor.

Thanks to the use of modern microsurgical equipment by our doctors, as well as constant monitoring and laboratory and instrumental control, complications were avoided after the operation and rapid recovery was achieved. Less than 2 weeks after the operation, Maria was discharged.

Today we share her heartfelt feedback about the treatment at our Center, as well as sincere gratitude for the highly professional help and support.
