Academician Igor Khatkov spoke at a meeting of the Council for Science and Education
Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting of the Council for Science and Education in Novosibirsk. The reason for the meeting was the official launch of the SKIF installation in the science city of Koltsovo, Novosibirsk region, which is scheduled for the end of August.
SKIF is a source of synchrotron radiation that will help scientists "look inside" a variety of materials and even living objects to see their structure literally at the level of individual atoms.
In addition, the President announced the decision to combine all data on genetic resources, and believes that it is necessary to clearly define the mechanism of financial support for genetic resource centers.
One of the speakers of the Meeting was Igor Khatkov, Director of the Moscow Clinical Research Center named after A.S. Loginov, Chief oncologist of Moscow, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
First of all, he thanked the Government for supporting science, which makes it possible to create advanced solutions, including for the development of new drugs and the introduction of breakthrough treatments.
The academician also spoke about the creation of a single Russian biobank on the basis of MCSC — a huge digital database on the health of millions of people (blood samples, DNA, CT results).
