Manicure and hepatitis
NewsOn the eve of the World Hepatitis Day, experts from the Moscow Department of Health warned that hepatitis B and C can get sick not only people who use drugs and lead an unprotected sexual life with frequent changes of partners. The risk group also includes visitors to beauty salons.

Nail care, tattooing, tattoos, piercing of ears and other parts of the body – these procedures have become quite popular for residents of the metropolis. However, many do not think or do not know that in this way there is a possibility of contracting hepatitis.
We are talking about the transmission of the virus through instruments that have not been properly sterilized. If a microtrauma occurred during the session and blood appeared in a client carrying hepatitis B or C, then without proper treatment, there is a possibility of transmission of the infection to the next client through this tool.
The problem with the spread of the virus is that many infected people do not know about their disease. Hepatitis B and C may not manifest themselves for several years, and during this period a person is able to infect others without even knowing it.
"Remember, water and disinfectants do not kill hepatitis B and C viruses. Before starting the procedure, make sure that the reusable tools in a sealed kraft bag have been sterilized in an autoclave for 30 minutes or in a dry heat at 160°C for 60 minutes. A special indicator on the package should have a pink, beige or brown color, " advises Svetlana Smetanina, chief specialist in infectious diseases of the Moscow Department of Health.
All metal tools should be sterilized: forceps, needles, scissors, cuticle removal sticks, tips for hardware manicure and pedicure. Tools that cannot be sterilized and must be disposable include orange sticks, pumice stones and saws, and needles for tattooing and tattooing.
Masters who have contact with the skin and mucosa of the client must necessarily work in disposable gloves. Unfortunately, some specialists, in particular those who receive at home, neglect sanitary rules, incorrectly handle tools, do not conduct regular checks for hepatitis and other diseases, which puts themselves and their clients at risk.
In order to avoid infection with viral hepatitis B and C, the Moscow Department of Health calls for paying attention to compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards by beauty workers.
