When should I call an ambulance immediately?
NewsExperts told about the main symptoms that require urgent medical care
Patients have different conditions that require an emergency call. Alexey Bezymyanny, Deputy chief freelance specialist for emergency medical care, head of the Department of Emergency advisory emergency medical care of the Puchkov Ambulance and Emergency Medical Care Station of the Moscow Department of Health, told us what symptoms should be immediately called an ambulance, and when it is necessary to go to the polyclinic on their own.
"High fever is one of the most common reasons for calling an ambulance. If we are talking about 38 degrees and there are symptoms such as a cough or runny nose, then the patient should go to the polyclinic to the district therapist, and not to the ambulance. The fact is that the ambulance crews do not have the right to prescribe treatment and prescribe prescriptions. A higher temperature and a longer period of exacerbation is a good reason to call the number 103, " said Alexey Bezymyanny.
He noted that at the same time, people tend not to take some symptoms seriously, but they can signal an illness or a dangerous health condition and require immediate treatment in an ambulance. These symptoms include chest pain of a pressing nature, an acute violation of the sensitivity of the face or part of the body, speech impairment, sudden acute shortness of breath.
"Often, with severe bleeding, loss of consciousness or a violation of the heart rhythm, people experience fear, confusion, immediately call an ambulance to themselves or a loved one. And they do it absolutely correctly. After all, many people do not know how to act in such a situation, how to help, so as not to harm. But, for example, acute abdominal pain, accompanied by nausea or vomiting, usually try to treat yourself, which can lead to more serious consequences. With such symptoms, every hour is important, you need to urgently contact an ambulance, " added Alexey Bezymyanny.
