Day hospital of the hematology department

The hematological day hospital is designed for patients who do not require round-the-clock monitoring, but need regular medical procedures, infusion therapy, follow-up examinations and dynamic monitoring by a hematologist.

1. The main tasks of the day hospital

  • Conducting course chemotherapy (including targeted and immunotherapy) on an outpatient basis.
  • Maintenance therapy (blood transfusion, thromboconcentrate).
  • Diagnostic procedures (bone marrow puncture, bone marrow trepanobiopsy).
  • Monitoring the condition of patients after high-dose therapy or transplantation.
  • Correction of complications (treatment of anemia, neutropenia).

2. Organization of work

Working hours: from 8:00 to 16:00 (flexible schedule is possible for patients on long-term therapy).

Duration of stay: from several hours to the entire working day, depending on the type of treatment.

Frequency of visits: from 1 time per week to daily visits (according to indications).

3. Ongoing procedures and treatment

  • Therapeutic measures
  • Chemotherapy (administration of cytostatics, monoclonal antibodies).
  • Infusion therapy (hydration, administration of bisphosphonates, immunoglobulins).
  • Hemotransfusion (erythrocyte mass, thromboconcentrate).
  • Diagnostic manipulations
  • Sternal puncture and trepanobiopsy (under local anesthesia).
  • Laboratory control (UAC, biochemistry, coagulogram).

4. Advantages of a day hospital

Reducing the risk of nosocomial infections (the patient is not in the hospital around the clock).
Saving beds for serious patients requiring hospitalization.
The ability to lead a habitual lifestyle (the patient returns home after the procedures).
Individual treatment schedule (flexible approach for working patients).

5. Supervision and continuity

  • Daily examination by a hematologist (assessment of the condition, correction of therapy).
  • Communication with a round-the-clock hospital (rapid hospitalization in case of deterioration).
  • Electronic medical card (all data is entered into a single system to monitor the dynamics).
