Topical issues of cytological diagnostics (144 hours)

Relevance

Progress in diagnostic and clinical specialties, focus on organ-preserving operations and minimally invasive interventions make cytological diagnostics in demand. The need for cytological research is increasingly heard in modern domestic and foreign recommendations. Cytological diagnostics does not stand still and new technologies from the test for "atypical cells" have turned it into an independent diagnostic discipline.

Liquid technology of material preparation, immunocytochemical studies, cell block technology impose new requirements on the qualification of specialists engaged in cytological research.  Increasingly, ultrasound examination, followed by fine-needle aspiration puncture biopsy (TAPB), can determine the nature of the process and the scope of the upcoming operation.

The approach of MCSC named after A.S. Loginov to this minimally invasive procedure is multidisciplinary and collegial, based on "Rapid On Site Evaluation" (ROSE), which allows to increase the quantity and quality of informative material, the overall accuracy of cytological diagnosis, and, consequently, the accuracy of preoperative diagnosis as a whole.

This course will allow you to master new skills and knowledge in the field of cytological diagnostics, as well as effectively apply them in clinical practice.

The purpose of the program is to improve the professional competencies and theoretical knowledge of specialist doctors in the professional field of activity - cytological diagnostics.

Tasks solved during the training:

  1. To provide professional training of a specialist, including the basics of fundamental knowledge in the field of cytological diagnostics, related issues.
  1. To improve knowledge, skills, skills in cytological diagnostics in order to form the ability to interpret the cytological picture of diseases and pathological conditions.
  1. To improve knowledge and skills in the field of additional, clarifying methods of cytological diagnostics.
  1. To provide practical professional training of a specialist for mastering modern methods of cytological diagnostics, understanding the differences between different sample preparations of the material (traditional, liquid, cell block), their main advantages and disadvantages and capable of independent work on the interpretation of cytological pictures in various pathological conditions.

A feature of the training course being studied is the availability of an internship at the workplace to practice practical skills in the amount of 120 academic hours.

The task of the internship is to develop practical skills in assisting at the preanalytical and analytical stages of cytological research, performing the stages of cytological research and working with the archive of glass products under the guidance of a mentor, participating in the analysis of clinical observations with a discussion of errors.

The internship is conducted on the basis of the Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory of the State Medical Institution MCSC named after A.S. Loginov DZM.

Curator of the cycle of advanced training and internship: Noskova Karina Kadievna, Ph.D., Head of the clinical and diagnostic laboratory of the State Medical Institution MCSC named after A.S. Loginov DZM.

Form of study: full-time.

The final certification is carried out in the form of an interview and a final test.

Students who have completed training and successfully passed the final certification in the form of a test and interview receive certificate of professional development.

Audience category:

1. Specialists with higher professional education in the enlarged group of specialties "Clinical medicine": "Clinical laboratory diagnostics", "Pathological anatomy".

2. Specialists with higher (non-medical) education working in positions: "A biologist."

Duration of study: 144 academic hours.

The schedule of classes in accordance with the academic calendar (up to 8 academic hours per day).

As part of the professional development program, students:

1.           They will study the etiology and modern classifications of the most common localizations for TAPB.

2.           He will learn the general principles and diagnostic criteria of TAPB in various pathologies.

3.           He will study possible cytological patterns in various pathological conditions.

4.           He will study the morphological patterns that cause the greatest difficulty in assessing cytological material.

5.           He will master the technique of rapid assessment of the cellular content of the obtained material in the operating room ROSE (Rapid On Site Evaluation) and the possibilities of its application.

6. He will analyze the main differences between the liquid method of preparing the material and the traditional one.
