Technology for performing a PCR test for COVID-19

As soon as the samples reach the laboratory, the testing process begins, which includes several stages:

Stage 1-Preparation of reagents

Stage 2-Isolation of nucleic acids (in this case, RNA)

To do this, medical laboratory technicians use a number of reagents - with their help, unnecessary components are removed.

It looks like this:

  1. each sample is passed through individual filter tubes;
  2. the RNA deposited on the filter membrane is washed several times with chemical solutions;
  3. allow the filter to dry;
  4. the nucleic acid is washed into the last tube with a solution, the so-called eluding buffer.

Stage 3 - Preparation of the reaction mixture for PCR

Stage 4-Specific amplification and detection by RT-PCR.

After such preparation, the test tubes are sent to warm up at a temperature of several tens of degrees Celsius in a special analyzing device.

stage 5 - Control of the reliability of a series of experimental results (negative, positive and internal controls)

Stage 6 - Interpretation of the results.

At the Loginov Moscow Research Center, you can be diagnosed with SARS-Cov-2 coronavirus infection, the causative agent of COVID-19, by PCR:

  • EXPRESS PCR test for coronavirus - up to 4 hours (from the moment of smear collection);
  • PCR test for coronavirus - up to 24 hours (from the moment of sampling the smear).
