Modern rectal cancer surgery: a master class with the participation of an MCSC expert
NewsOn January 23, 2026, a surgical master class on the treatment of patients with low-lying tumors of the rectum was held in Ufa on the basis of the Republican Clinical Oncology Dispensary.
This is one of the most difficult areas of colorectal surgery, where it is especially important to preserve the sphincter and the patient's quality of life.
In the master class, one of the experts was the leading researcher of the Department of Coloproctology of the MCSC named after A.S. Loginov, Professor of RUDN University, Doctor of Medicine Vyacheslav Aliyev Afanadievich.
Together with colleagues — Ayupov R.T. and Feoktistov D.V. — two laparoscopic ultra-low resections of the rectum were performed in patients after chemoradiotherapy.The operations were successful, the patients feel well and are preparing for discharge.
The main goal of such operations is to remove the tumor and at the same time preserve the natural function of the intestine so that the patient can do without a permanent stoma. Doctors emphasize that the preservation of the sphincter in such forms of cancer is possible only with mandatory comprehensive preparation before surgery.
Vyacheslav Afanadievich highly appreciated the level of organization and provision of oncological care at the Bashkir Cancer Center, noting the well-coordinated work of the team and the high professionalism of the specialists.
