Cancer is not a sentence: how oncologists save lives
Oncological diseases are in second place in the structure of mortality after cardiovascular diseases. More than half a million new cases are detected annually in Russia. But today this serious illness is not a sentence. In the early stages, the probability of recovery is very high.
"Oncology is to some extent a form of manifestation of aging of the body. Therefore, the question of whether to defeat cancer or completely eliminate it, as some kind of infectious disease, is probably simply impossible. But the fact that we are currently able to provide a high-quality and long life to patients who already have cancer, in some cases even to achieve a cure is absolutely certain," says Igor Khatkov, Director of the MCSC named after A.S. Loginov DZM, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor.
