Eosinophilic esophagitis
Eosinophilic esophagitis is a chronic, immuno-mediated disease, histologically characterized by pronounced eosinophilic cell infiltration of the esophageal mucosa and clinically manifested by esophageal dysfunction (dysphagia). To confirm the clinical diagnosis of "eosinophilic esophagitis", a histological examination of the biopsies is required esophageal mucosa obtained during esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Eosinophilic esophagitis is a disease with a mixed pathogenesis. It is characterized by the development of IgE-and non-IgE-mediated immune responses to food and drugs involving eosinophils and Th2-cytokines.
In the laboratory of pathomorphology, Professor S. G. Homerika can provide a qualified histological opinion on the biopsy material obtained during esophagogastroduodenoscopy, as well as consult ready-made histological preparations made in other medical institutions.
