Vascular surgery

The main focus of the Department of Vascular Surgery is to provide medical care to patients with various vascular pathologies. The Center’s capabilities allow for comprehensive multidisciplinary examination of patients, including preoperative assessment.

What do we treat?

  • diseases of the carotid and other brachiocephalic arteries (stroke prevention)
  • carotid chemodectomas
  • nonspecific aortoarteritis
  • aortic aneurysm
  • lower limb ischemia, including critical limb ischemia
  • neck chemodectomas (paragangliomas)
  • Buerger’s disease (thromboangiitis obliterans)
  • abdominal ischemic syndrome
  • renovascular hypertension
  • angiodysplasias
  • chronic venous disease
  • lymphedema
  • The department’s physicians are able to perform comprehensive vascular diagnostics using the capabilities of the Center’s X-ray, computed tomography, and ultrasound diagnostic units.

Surgical procedures are performed using various techniques: open surgery, minimally invasive approaches, endovascular (intravascular) methods, including mini-access techniques.

The use of an intraoperative C-arm X-ray system enables hybrid surgical interventions on the thoracic and abdominal aorta as well as peripheral arteries.

    Types of surgical care:

  • abdominal aortic prosthetic replacement
  • aortic aneurysm resection
  • aortofemoral bypass
  • iliofemoral bypass
  • femoropopliteal bypass
  • femorotibial bypass
  • celiac trunk decompression
  • resection of aneurysms and reconstruction of visceral branches
  • profundoplasty (deep femoral artery reconstruction)
  • carotid endarterectomy (conventional and eversion techniques)
  • carotid-subclavian bypass
  • creation of permanent vascular access for hemodialysis
  • arteriovenous fistula disconnection
  • surgery for arteriovenous malformations
  • endovenous laser ablation
  • radiofrequency ablation
  • foam sclerotherapy
  • compression microsclerotherapy
  • combined phlebectomy
  • surgery for deep vein thrombosis
  • stenting of carotid and subclavian arteries
  • endovascular aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR)
  • angioplasty and stenting of iliac arteries
  • angioplasty and stenting of lower limb arteries
  • angioplasty and stenting of visceral and renal arteries
  • bypass of visceral arteries
  • excision of angiomatosis tissue in angiodysplasias
