Differential diagnosis of mechanical jaundice in diseases of the pancreas and biliary tract

Relevance. Mechanical jaundice is a complication of pathological processes that disrupt the outflow of bile at various levels of the bile ducts. This condition can lead to: hepatic or hepatic-renal failure, purulent cholangitis, cholangitic liver abscesses, sepsis, biliary cirrhosis of the liver. That is why they require urgent diagnostic and therapeutic measures. Diseases that lead to mechanical jaundice are: choledocholithiasis, cyst of the head of the pancreas, cancer of the head of the pancreas, gallbladder cancer, cancer of the large duodenal papilla, cancer of the terminal part of the choledochus, pseudotumor pancreatitis, autoimmune pancreatitis, IgG4-dependent sclerosing disease, cholangitis, papillitis and other conditions. The main task of the first stage of treatment is the elimination of jaundice. In the future, the management of patients depends on the underlying disease.

As part of the program, we:

  1. We will discuss the epidemiological, etiological aspects, and pathogenetic mechanisms of the development of mechanical jaundice in various diseases of the pancreas, gallbladder, and biliary tract.
  2. We will study diagnostic methods: biochemical markers, ultrasound, EUS, MSCT, MRPHG for mechanical jaundice.
  3. We will study the criteria for differential diagnosis of mechanical jaundice in various diseases of the pancreas, gallbladder and biliary tract.
  4. We will study the types, methods of diagnosis, clinical picture, methods of treatment of choledocholithiasis, pseudocysts (postnecrotic cysts) of the pancreas, IgG4-dependent sclerosing disease.
  5. We will study the types, methods of diagnosis, clinical picture, methods of treatment of benign and malignant tumors of the biliary tract.
  6. In the course of training, modern algorithms for diagnosis and treatment will be presented.
