  • Ultrasound is performed strictly on an empty stomach (the last meal is 8-12 hours before the study, fluid intake is also not recommended). In the event that the study is not carried out in the morning or the patient has diabetes, it is possible to use unsweetened tea or dried white bread.
  • 2-3 days before the examination, it is recommended to switch to a slagless diet, exclude from the diet foods that increase gas formation in the intestine (raw vegetables rich in vegetable fiber - cabbage, radishes, garlic, onions, also fruits, legumes, whole milk, black bread, carbonated drinks, high - calorie confectionery-cakes, cakes). 
  • If there are no contraindications, it is advisable to take enzyme preparations and enterosorbents during this period of time (for example, festal, mezim-forte, activated carbon, at the rate of one tablet for every 10 kilograms of weight, also espumizan), which will help reduce the manifestations of flatulence (gas formation). 

If there was no independent stool for more than 2-3 days, a cleansing enema. 

It is not recommended to smoke before the study.

You can not conduct the study directly after gastroscopy, colonoscopy and irrigoscopy. Routine ultrasound is performed one day after endoscopic and 2 days after radiopaque examinations of the gastrointestinal tract.
