May 23 – Day of diagnosis of melanoma

News

May 23 marks the Day of diagnosis of melanoma, one of the most aggressive malignant neoplasms.

Melanoma is a malignant tumor arising from cells containing the dark pigment melanin.  In 90% of cases, melanoma is localized on the skin. It develops from a mole.

For timely detection, it is necessary to periodically independently inspect the skin, especially if there are moles on them, and observe changes in their shape, color, edges and growth dynamics.

For early diagnosis of melanoma, you can use the international ABC rule. (according to the letters of the Latin alphabet):

  • A – asymmetry of the neoplasm;
  • C – unevenness of the edges;
  • C – color change;
  • D is the diameter of the formation (more than 6 mm);
  • E – dynamic changes in time (growth, elevation).

MCSC specialists have extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of skin melanoma. Remember, a timely examination of pigmented skin formations can save your life.

Take regular checkups and be healthy!
