Functional bowel diseases

Fecal incontinence-anal incontinence – is a complex pathology that significantly reduces the quality of life of patients. This problem is often found after various perineal injuries, severe childbirth in women, after surgical interventions on the rectum.

A laboratory for the study of the functional features of this pathology has been established in the MCSC. If necessary, in the department of coloproctology, surgical correction is performed for the reconstruction of the sphincter apparatus of the rectum. A unique method of treatment of fecal incontinence-anal incontinence, developed in the Department of Coloproctology of the MCSC, is non-surgical correction using biofeedback-myostimulation of the pelvic floor muscles and the locking apparatus. This method is painless, non-invasive, easily tolerated by patients and does not require hospitalization in a hospital. The course of treatment consists of 10 sessions, after which the absolute majority of our patients notice a significant improvement in the function of fecal and gas retention and avoid surgical treatment.

Obstructive defecation syndrome - a feeling of incomplete emptying or a foreign body after emptying in the rectum or vagina. This pathology is often found in women after a difficult birth, as well as after a perineal injury. The Department of Coloproctology has a multidisciplinary team of pelvic surgeons who treat this pathology.

Chronic constipationcaused by an elongation of the colon or Hirschsprung's disease is an indication for surgical treatment. In the department, endoscopic removal of a physiologically non-functioning segment of the colon is performed, which leads to the restoration of normal passage of the contents through the intestinal tube.
