Breast surgery in the MCSC. New technologies.
NewsScreening programs for early detection of breast cancer are constantly evolving. As a result, more patients are able to detect the tumor in the initial stages. This allows doctors to perform organ-preserving operations.
Basic requirements for organ-preserving operations:
- ensuring complete removal of breast formation
- good cosmetic effect
The absence of malignant cells in the resection edge (negative resection edges) determines the radical nature of the performed surgical intervention.
In the Department of Breast Cancer Surgery of the Loginov Moscow State Medical Center uses a portable X-ray unit for sectorography, which allows specialists to reliably assess the "purity" of the edges of the breast tumor resection during the operation.
For this purpose, intraoperative digital two-position sectorography is performed. The obtained images of the remote sector of the breast with the tumor can be compared in real time with mammograms that were made before the operation. If necessary, surgeons can broadcast the image directly from the operating room to the radiology department and consult with a radiologist.
This technique is used in many well-known medical institutions around the world and has already proven itself from the best side. It significantly reduces the time of the operation, and also reduces the percentage of repeated surgical interventions from 12% to 5%.
