NewsThe MCSC named after A.S. Loginov was contacted by a young girl of 20 years with complaints of pain in the cervical spine and numbness of the hands.
A magnetic resonance examination of the cervical spine and a study of the brain were performed – pathological changes in the spinal cord were detected on the obtained tomograms.
Taking into account the young age of the girl, the alleged diagnosis was multiple sclerosis, which was later confirmed by specialists of the Institute of Neurology.
To date, the patient receives the necessary treatment and lives a normal life.
Currently, the most informative method of diagnosing multiple sclerosis is magnetic resonance imaging. The method allows to detect pathological changes in the central nervous system with high efficiency. However, to diagnose multiple sclerosis, it is necessary to use a device with a magnetic field power of at least 1.5 Tesla, since tomographs of lower power (low-field) have insufficient resolution to correctly assess the damage to the brain and spinal cord.
