In oncology, such tests are an important tool for finding genetic changes that may be associated with the development of cancer. Also, molecular genetic studies can help in determining the prognosis of the disease and choosing the most effective treatment.

Most often, an oncologist prescribes the study of genetic mutations in the following localizations:

• breast cancer,
• colon cancer,
• lung cancer,
• ovarian cancer,
• stomach cancer,
• melanomas,
• gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
