October 20-World Day against Osteoporosis

Osteoporosis is a disease of the skeleton, which is characterized by a decrease in the density and violation of the structure of bone tissue.

The bones become brittle and thin, which leads to fractures with minimal physical exertion.

Risk factors:

  • age over 65;
  • female gender;
  • insufficient calcium intake;
  • bad habits;
  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • patients receiving long-term hormone therapy.

According to WHO statistics, in the Russian Federation, osteoporosis is diagnosed in every third woman and every fifth man.
