CT-coronarography
NewsCT-coronarography is a computer-tomographic examination of the heart vessels with contrast enhancement. The study is not an invasive method of imaging the arteries of the heart, it is carried out within 15-25 minutes on an outpatient basis, painlessly.
Indications for the study:
- hypertension;
- dyslipidemia (violation of fat metabolism);
- conducting radiation and chemotherapy;
- smoking, alcoholism, drug use;
- unfavorable family history;
- coronary heart disease and its various complications;
- high body mass index (increased body weight);
- immunodeficiency states.
CT-coronarography is prescribed for:
- assessment of the patency of the arteries of the heart, with the determination of the degree of their narrowing (screening of coronary artery disease and coronary atherosclerosis);
- evaluation of myocardial perfusion and viability;
- search for the cause of chest pain;
- with deviations on the ECG, in laboratory tests;
- clarification of echocardiography data (assessment of the anatomy and function of the heart chambers, the condition of the valves) for all heart diseases;
- for atypical pain in the heart area;
- to assess the patency of venous and aortic shunts and coronary artery stents after stenting and coronary artery bypass grafting operations;
- for uninformative load tests;
- to assess the structure and function of the heart valves, the presence of blood clots or volume formations in the heart cavities;
- for emergency and planned assessment of the aortic condition (dissection, aneurysm, coarctation);
- to exclude pulmonary embolism;
- for functional assessment of the myocardium (after myocardial infarction);
- assessment of the fractional reserve of blood flow (assessment of the true significance of stenosis);
- non-invasive assessment of morphology (structure) atherosclerotic plaques (assessment of the risk of rupture and formation of myocardial infarction);
- in case of suspected abnormal development of the coronary arteries.
CT-coronary angiography with contrast is contraindicated:
* during pregnancy, lactation, non-stop arrhythmia
· patients with an allergic reaction to a contrast iodine-containing drug
· patients with renal insufficiency and severe diabetes mellitus
· With contraindications to the use of beta-blockers.
How to prepare for the study?
· Do not eat food for 3 hours before the study. You can drink in the water.
· Have the results of a biochemical blood test (creatinine level) with you.
On the day of the examination, you need to take all the medications that you take daily (especially for regulating blood pressure).
With frequent heartbeats (more than 65/min), beta-blockers are indicated.
After the introduction of the contrast agent, you need to stop taking Metformin-Siofor (up to 48 hours).
When performing CT-coronarography, you can simultaneously get information about the state of the thoracic aorta and pulmonary artery, mediastinum and lungs. Thus, it is possible to identify a number of diseases that may be accompanied by pain in the chest, but are not associated with coronary artery disease (diseases of the aorta, spine, ribs, pleura, lungs).
