NewsMay 23 is the Day of the endoscopist!The history of endoscopy at TSNIIG is closely connected with the name of Doctor of Medical Sciences, corresponding member of the Academy of Medical and Technical Sciences, Honored Doctor of the Russian Federation, Professor.

As the head of the department of diseases of the upper digestive tract, he organized the department of therapeutic endoscopy.This made it possible to significantly improve the diagnosis and treatment of lesions of the upper gastrointestinal tract.
Under his leadership, for the first time in the USSR, methods of duodenoscopy and retrograde pancreatocholangiography were developed and introduced into clinical practice.The conditions of the esophagus, stomach, duodenum, pancreas and biliary tract were studied using endoscopic fiber-optic equipment.
- Special techniques have also been developed:
conducting a targeted biopsy of the mucous membrane of the upper gastrointestinal tract
- simultaneous application of gastroscopy, targeted gastrobiopsy and cytological examination of the material for early diagnosis of gastric cancer
- removal of polyps
- stopping bleeding with electrocoagulation
In addition, Yuri Vasilyevich took an active part in teaching endoscopic methods of research and treatment to doctors from many countries of the world.in 2013, already in the MCSC, an endoscopy department was opened under the leadership of prof.
Kirill V. Shishin, which included 2 departments: diagnostic and operative endoscopy.In 2022, our doctors performed more than 30,000 diagnostic tests and more than 2,000 endoscopic surgeries!
And the staff of the department also work as surgeons and have cured more than 900 patients over the past year.Congratulations to our colleagues!
