News

A 35-year-old patient came to the MCSC complaining of general weakness, constant abdominal pain and weight loss of more than 20 kg in just 2 months.

Previously, the patient had already suffered attacks of acute pancreatitis, was treated in various hospitals in Moscow. The previous deterioration of the health condition was two months ago, when he began to notice an increase in weakness, there were constant pains in the abdomen.

According to the studies conducted at the place of residence, doctors suggested the presence of a neoplasm of the pancreas. The patient was referred for hospitalization in Department of pathology of pancreas and biliary tract MCSC named after A.S. Loginov to clarify the diagnosis and determine further treatment.

According to the results of the medical examination in the MCSC:

  • signs of pronounced amylase activity in the blood and urine, the presence of iron deficiency anemia and a decrease in the level of total protein were revealed;
  • Ultrasound revealed signs of formations in the pancreas and stomach;
  • computer tomography showed changes in the pancreas and forming formations in the pancreas and stomach;
  • in addition to CT, the patient underwent magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography, the data of which confirmed the previously obtained results.

In cases of severe forms of exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis and its complications, surgeons of Department of high-tech surgery and surgical endoscopy of MCSC are involved in the treatment of patients.

A team of gastroenterologists, surgeons and radiation imaging specialists held a joint consultation and diagnosed exacerbation of chronic pancreatitis complicated by the formation of postnecrotic cysts and calcifications in the main pancreatic duct.

Since in this case there was no need for surgical treatment, it was decided to conduct joint conservative treatment:

  • anti-inflammatory therapy was performed;
  • improved blood properties;
  • reduced pain;
  • replacement therapy and correction of anemia were performed.

As a result of the treatment carried out in the MCSC:

  • the patient gained 2 kg in weight;
  • pain significantly decreased;
  • blood counts returned to normal.

The patient was discharged in a satisfactory condition, with good health. He was recommended to observe a special diet and lifestyle, as well as continue taking medications to improve well-being.
Also, the patient was recommended to undergo regular instrumental examinations and monitor blood tests.

The Department of pathology of the pancreas and biliary tract of MCSC specializes in the examination and treatment of patients with various diseases of the pancreatobiliary zone and closely cooperates with other departments, which improves the quality of diagnosis and treatment.
